Michael A Gaines, Sr. - Sr. Vice President Development & Commercial Leasing

Michael is currently Senior VP of Development & Commercial Leasing for Byrnes & Associates Inc. and also serves as President/CEO of the BRIDGES Community Development Corporation, responsible for the renovation of vacant homes and development of a community resource center, healthcare and student education opportunities, and 83 units of affordable to the Park Heights community. Michael was previously the Assistant Secretary for Real Estate for the Maryland Department of General Services under Governor Martin O’Malley for eight years. There, he managed the state’s real estate portfolio of nearly 11 million square feet of office space, owned and privately leased by the State of Maryland. Michael’s distinguished career began in the Baltimore City Planning Department in the 1970s. He was a Business Development Officer at the Baltimore Economic and Business Development Corporation, a precursor to the Baltimore Development Corporation. Michael was President and CEO of the Economic and Business Opportunity, Inc. from 1990 to 1995. Following that, he served as Vice President and General Manager of the Rouse Company, where he managed and oversaw operations for Harborplace and Baltimore’s Gallery downtown.
